Renata, Ye and I headed to Sorrento where I will be staying for a few days before I head to Greece. The coastline along the road to Sorrento was so beautiful and windy or should I say very curvy. We are not staying directly in town but on the outskirts of Sorrento in another camp called Santa Fortunata. Not sure how much camping I can do here. This coming from someone from Yosemite National Park. I think I am starting to get sick from having no heat in the caravans that we have been staying in and using very thin blankets to try and stay warm. I wasn’t expecting this when I decided to go to Europe. We arrived at the camp about 1:00 pm and decided to walk into town which is about a twenty minute walk from the camp.
We walked around Sorrento for awhile and then headed back up to the camp along the windy and curvy road. Past the camp, we found this pizza restaurant which is located across from the American Bar. I ordered a pizza made with white cream, mushrooms and red peppers. It was pretty good since I have never had pizza with white sauce before. Always been made with tomato sauce or red sauce. Whatever you want to call it.
Headed back to camp where we heard about a procession they would be having in town at 2:00 am and then again at 8:00 pm. The procession was tied into Easter. Decided to go to both processions so I went to sleep for awhile before waking up about 2:30 am so I could walk down into the village to see the procession. Didn’t miss it. It ended up starting about 3:00 am. Everyone in the procession was dressed in white and walked in a line with candles and lanterns. They even had children walking in the line and the way they were dressed made them look like the KKK. Arrived back at camp about 4:30 am where I went back to sleep for a couple of hours.
Found out ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ was filmed in Sorrento. It was a movie that starred Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law.
