Yeah, I know it isn’t 2013 yet but it doesn’t mean you can’t start planning and thinking ahead to what lies out there for your next great adventure. For me, my next great adventure is taking my niece to Dublin, Paris and Rome for two weeks after she graduates from high school. I have been to all three places so I have an idea of things she should definitely see while there. I mean, you can’t not go to Paris and not see the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame Cathedral. Or Rome and not see the Colisseum. Looking into other things she might want to see and who knows maybe I will find places on this trip that I didn’t see the last time I was there. That is the beauty of travelling with someone who has never been to these places. You are seeing the cities through someone else’s eyes. As if you are seeing the beauty of Dublin, Paris and Rome for the first time.
The dates are set for next June. Two weeks ….. Started looking for flights that would get us into Dublin in the morning and out of Rome at a reasonable time to where I would get back home sometime early enough on a Sunday. Flights started off around $1,200 – $1,300 and I knew I didn’t want to pay that much for tickets even though I had budgeted a bit more then that. As luck and email would have it; I received an email from one of those places where they say if you use the ticket by a certain date then the price is a certain amount. Sure enough as long as we came back home before the end of June then flights would be under $900. Bought two tickets for $886.10 each. I did purchase travel insurance which I usually don’t but since my niece is going with me on this trip I figured it would be better to be safe then for something to happen while we were on our trip.
It helps to have an idea of how much you are willing to spend on flights. Then keep looking until you find it within your price range or in my case way lower then I expected.
Here are a few photos I took years ago when I travelled to Dublin, Paris and Rome. Can’t wait to see the changes to these cities when I travel back to them next year.
