You are probably thinking how can you see everything you want to see in one day? I don’t think you can because there is so much you’ll want to see. You’ll leave the city behind you thinking of things you wish you saw while you were there. Why not highlight some of the things you want to see before you arrive. Maybe have some sort of game plan so you can see the main places that drew you to it in the first place. Think about it; you wouldn’t go to Pisa without seeing the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Pompeii without visiting the ruins or Rome without walking around the Coliseum.
Or you can always wing it and walk around the city; finding off the beaten places tourists before you may have never seen. I have done both; been spontaneous and planned things out in my travels. Neither one is wrong but I do know you can see any city in one day; hit the highlights of that city if you don’t have more than one day there. Visit what interests you, be it museums, art galleries or churches.
I chose Salisbury as one of the places I wanted to visit when I was in England. I only had one day in the city focusing my attention on Salisbury Cathedral.
Now you might be wondering why I didn’t spend any time at Stonehenge which is only eight miles from the cathedral. Does it count that I stopped by there but couldn’t walk around it? I was in the area at a time when foot and mouth crisis had been reported (2001) not allowing anyone to walk amidst the stones. I guess that means I should plan another trip to England to see what I missed the first time I was in this country.
Other then Salisbury Cathedral, I chose my time to walk around the city keeping my attention to the buildings around me.
Have you visited Salisbury and wandered through the cathedral during your visit? What did you think of it as you walked through the village? I would love to hear your thoughts on this place if you’ve ever had the chance to see it.
nice article
Thanks
Wow! I didn’t realize there was so much to do in Salisbury. I was there in June but I was on a tour to see Stonehenge and didn’t see much of the town. Now you can’t work amidst the stones anymore – they have roped it off but it’s still worth visiting!
Salisbury was one of my favorite towns to visit. I only spent the one day and night there and wish I had more time to explore it.
I really enjoyed reading this. Salisbury is about 30 mins from my home!

There are so many places in England that it is hard for us to see all of them. This is one place you should add to your list the next time you are there.
Sounds like a really lovely place. Will add that to my list of places to visit.
It is one of those places you might not have on your list to visit but you wish you did. For me, it was one of those hidden gems.
