One of my first thoughts of Dublin when I think of it isn’t the Guinness or the Old Library at Trinity College with its Book of Kells exhibition. It’s the bagels. Not just any bagel but the one I had for breakfast one morning when we didn’t have anything planned for the day. It was at The Bagel Bar Coffee House where I found the perfect bagel. Thinking about it now takes me back to the time spent in Dublin with my nieces.
We found The Bagel Bar Coffee House by accident. As we were walking around one morning looking for a place for breakfast; there it was. There wasn’t any way I was going anywhere else to eat since I love bagels and saw that they weren’t your normal run of the mill bagels with cream cheese. Their menu is set up in a way where if you wanted roast beef and cheddar cheese than you would order the beef philly. If you didn’t want roast beef but wanted chicken instead, they have the classic club which has chicken and bacon on it.
It didn’t take me long to decide which bagel I wanted to order. Anything with guacamole had to be good. It was better than good. It was great; lucky for me it didn’t come with only guacamole. It included bacon, cheddar and chive cream cheese on a spinach bagel. It was called the Manhattan.
This place might be called The Bagel Bar Coffee House but that doesn’t mean they only sell bagels. You can order other items off the menu; wraps, Panini, sandwiches, toasties, soups and salads, desserts and pastries. I didn’t try anything else since I was focused on devouring my bagel.
Since I have lost weight, I am more aware of nutrition and what I eat especially when traveling. One thing I noticed about The Bagel Bar Coffee House is that calories are not the only thing listed next to each item on the menu. You will be able to tell if what you are ordering contains nuts, is gluten free or has low salt or sugar; those are only a few of the things you can check on when you decide what you want to eat. I am not a health nut, by any means, but I do try to be more health conscious since I have chosen a healthier lifestyle for myself. If I lived in Dublin then I would be stopping here as often as possible when eating out. It is that good and it helps that it delivers on the healthier aspect of what I want to eat.
What was your favorite food when traveling? Was it the croissants in Paris? Or was it the haggis in Scotland? Or like me, was it something as simple as the bagel in Dublin? Or was it something that you wouldn’t necessarily think of when you think of food from another country?
Check out The Bagel Bar Coffee House if you want to learn more about this place in Dublin. Or if you want to see if they have other locations in any of the countries you might be visiting.
Okay, that’s it! Ireland has to be on my travel list!
I keep telling you that you have to go to Ireland. It is one of my favorite places to visit.
I have always wanted to go to Ireland – such a magical place 🙂
It is definitely magical and more so on this last trip when I got to walk around Dublin and see more of the city. You should try and go one of these days.
I have yet to make it to Ireland and knowing they have these exceptionally good looking bagels probably won’t get me there any faster but it certainly helps. Who doesn’t love a good food / travel story.

You should add Ireland to your list of places to visit in the future. It is one of my favorite places to visit and the food has gotten better this time around from when I was there years ago.
I love a good bagel, and love Ireland too, but would never have put them together! Come to North London (or the East End of London) to try out some other brilliant bagels.

What places would you suggest in North London to try for when I can make it there for another visit.
I have to say that I never had a bagel while visiting Dublin. Nice to have a recommendation for our next visit. Ireland is an amazing place to visit for all types of food no surprise you found an amazing bagel!

Yeah not sure what I was expecting to find for breakfast so this was a nice treat for me. Can’t wait to go back and see what else I come across on one of my walks around the city.
